Newbies Initiative Task 7 + Acknowledgements
What do you think about the Newbies Initiative and how has it been beneficial?
The Newbies Initiative, to me, is a worthwhile programme that offers the best entry for new onboardees. The truth is that Hive is a really complex ecosystem to navigate, and without a programme designed to help novices navigate the ecosystem, we'll end up feeling nothing but lost.
The Newbies Initiative programme has benefited me in a lot of ways. At least I've made new friends and also learned new things. Some facts may seem too wavy about the Blockchain till one is properly exposed to a programme like the Newbies Initiative programme.
If one is to be introduced (onboarded) to the Hive Blockchain, the Newbies Initiative programme, to me, is a recommended learning path for good growth on the chain.
While the programme is not run all year, it's good that @starstrings01 is already running a bootcamp, which I highly recommend to all newbies to look up. Here are some links to the Bootcamp and the newbie initiative tasks I managed to complete (including the once time failed me):
How have the tasks given been helpful?
As humans, it's very easy to become overconfident with theoretical knowledge till you're exposed to true practise and then humility sets in. That's how it has been for me with regards to the Newbies Initiative programme tasks. By practicing, they were the best avenue for me to learn about the Blockchain. I just love the practise element that was added. It makes a lot of sense.
The tasks have been able to cement my knowledge and skills together, and that's evident by how I've managed to grow. And interestingly, I've been able to educate newbies as well.
What do you think we may need to improve in the initiative, and how do you think it can be done?
The Newbie Initiative programme is an excellent idea crafted by brilliant minds. I can't find so many faults, aside from the fact that it seems unable to accommodate more newbies and run for a longer period of time.
I know the Newbie Initiative Programme is time-bound, so, if by the end of a programme, another is started immediately to accommodate newer newbies, it would be nice. This may require shortening the length of the current programme and more manpower. For manpower, the graduate newbies can even be used to train the new newbies.
It's just me thinking out loud. Though I believe there could be other factors that I may not be considering since I don't have the full picture of the situation, but still feel ready to train others!
Remember the Newbies Initiative Task 1, where you were asked to set down your goals? Show us a recount of your goals and how far you have come through.
I revisited my goals, and here is the report:
Goal | Actualization | Percentage |
---|---|---|
Make 36 posts | 96 posts | 60% more (266.7%) |
Achieve 50 HP | 323 HP | 273% more (646%) |
12 More Followers | Did not take note | No data |
Make 162 comments. | It's hard to measure | Superseded goal |
Onboard 3 new users | Onboarded 12 news users (though only one is very active) | 400% more |
Explore numerous frontends | I actually did this | While not measurable for now, I had fun exploring as much as I can |
