HiveStats V5 - A Base for your Financial Transactions on the Hive Blockchain
We have all grown to enjoy digital banking services and the convenience they provide. Hivestats DApp is to the Hive blockchain what a digital banking app is to you—it allows a user to perform secure transactions within the Hive blockchain.
In this #HiveStat review, I want to talk about the HiveStats wallet tab. This section of HiveStats enables a Hive user to carry out wallet operations such as making Hive and HBD transfers, among others.
For me, I would recommend using the HiveStats wallet option for most Hive-based transactions, as it allows a user to carry out key transactions on the blockchain in one place.
The HiveStats wallet view will be highly beneficial to #newbies as it offers a simple and straightforward interface devoid of complications and unnecessary ambiguities.
Let's look at some key wallet futures from which a user is sure to benefit. I've numbered these key features as shown in the screenshot below, and I've dropped down the respective menus to show the available operations within them.
1. Hive
This table displays your total Hive value owned and several Hive-based operations such as sending Hive, Power up or Transfer Hive to savings. Remember, Hive is one of the few ways you get rewarded for your activities on the Hive blockchain.
2. Staked Hive - Hive Power (HP)
Staking your Hive, or Powering up, which is in essence not withdrawing your Hive rewards, gives you some level of authority and exposure on the Hive blockchain based on the amount of Hive staked. As shown here, my Hive power is 47.8HP (minus delegated HP). Under this tab, you can choose to delegate HP to another user in essence borrowing them some Hive to enable them perform more operations on the Hive blockchain without quickly running out of resources. You can also powerdown if you wish to withdraw some of your Hives and bring down your HP (note that this takes a lot of time, about 3 months or thereabouts).
3. Hive Backed Dollars (HBD)
Hive Backed Dollars (HBD) are usually paired with the rewards received for most activities on the Hive blockchain especially on Hive blog related activities.
Note that different DApps on the Hive blockchain can reward its users such as #Actifit's AFIT tokens and #Leofinance LEO tokens.
Under the HBD column, you can perform HBD-based operations such as sending HBD and transferring HBD to savings.
4 & 5. Hive & HBD Savings
Just like your traditional mobile banking or saving apps, you can save some of your Hives and HBDs, in essence, HODLING them for some time. This is different from powering up, as you can easily withdraw them in ashort timee.
6. LEO and Estimated Account Value
This section shows the amount of Leofinance tokens (LEO) you have and finally, the current fiat estimate of your account based on market values of all currencies/tokens displayed in your wallet.
Recommended Quality of Life Improvements
While the Hivestats wallet is a nice one and easy to navigate, here are some improvements I believe will help a lot:
- Addition of little toasts (information snippets): It would be nice if little information snippets were added to guide users in their operations/activities on the Hive wallet; this would be especially beneficial for new users. Information like how long an operation will take, what an operation will do, and maybe warnings.
- A bit of rearrangement and headings: I just feel all operations for each currency should be concluded before going into another token and there should be an obvious divider. So, everything about Hive transactions, including Hivesavings,s should be concluded before bringing in HBD.
- More Customizations: We should be provided with the option to add more tokens to this view or remove them.
- Convert HBD to Hive: While this is a simple process, it could be intimidating for most new users. I know the #keychain extension offers this option, but it would be a nice addition.
Note
You must be logged in to utilize the Hivestats wallet feature.
Currently, you can only log in using the Keychain app or extension; More login options will be appreciated (though I don't know whether it's my issue, but it seems I can only log in through the keychain extension and app).
