Leofinance Mobile App on Android: A Useful Feedback

As the Leofinance Mobile App approaches its last days of beta testing, I feel it's nice to look at this app again, give it a second look and provide some feedback.

No doubts, the development team has put in a lot of work to make this app a success, there are some few things that feels a little bit unpolished. Let's begin.

Notifications

In the Leofinance Mobile App store page marketing done by @finguru, notifications was touted as an important feature of the, and I cannot agree less. However, the notification system and triggers are not really fine tuned properly, if you use this app, you'll notice that you do receive notifications for other activities on the Hive Blockchain, while Leofinance app is designed to feed you activities only within Leofinance community.

So, here's what happens! An attempt to view notifications unrelated to Leofinance community will feed you an error message showing "Failure loading post" (screenshot below). It's nice to see that the dev team has done a lot of job to filter content from other communities, but the notifications trigger needs some job.

I'm sure this experience will be different for individuals who only engage on Leofinance, but for the few of us, this is our experience. This doesn't break the experience a lot, but what's worth doing is worth doing well.

Scrolling and Animations

You may have noticed that the Leofinance app doesn't seem as intuitive as you'll love it to be. There's this micro lags here and there while scrolling and interacting with different elements. Improving on the animation and scrolling will be a nice quality of life improvement.

Maybe, some form of optimisation techniques should be adopted to reduce image sizes from their uploaded resolutions and file size. It is also possible that this is not an issue of large images being loaded but rather the app is multithreading to load resources before hand, in this case, some form of lazy loading mechanism could be employed.

For the animations, if the windows animation and transition animation scale is reduced a bit more, it will be nice. Though, the preloading animation may not be helping all the time.

Closing

The Leofinance Mobile App is no doubt a well designed app and a product of hours of hardwork by the Leo Dev team. However, I'm still recommending a more functional design. We've the form it's to improve a bit more on the function, and in no time, Leofinance will be an easy go-to for all finance bloggers.
